I was contacted by a local Web and Media Solutions company to design a selection of Roller Banners for a Rugby Expo they attended.

The banners needed to stand out on the stand as many other companies would be presenting. There was a group of three banners in total, all different but following a similar theme.

The final banners can be used for any event in the future.

The company is an online store selling sneakers and other fashion accessories – a typical customer may be a street dancer, or someone who loves funky trainers.

The client wanted to logo to be modern, edgy, urban and chic. After research into various companies out there offering a similar service I came up with a few concepts all very different to the last. The final chosen concept was agreed, with a very happy client.

I was contacted to come up with a logo for a new company called ‘Tomorrow The World’.

The company outline was: Tomorrow The World offers hand-on business support, as much or as little as organisations need, to bring those internationally focussed ideas and projects from the “too difficult” / “wish list” pile back into a manager’s comfort zone where they can pick up and run with them.

The only item the company specified to be included in the logo was an image of a globe or the world. So from there I ran with a few different ways to attack this, each completely different to the last.

The final logo was agreed, with very happy clients.

I was contacted by Martin Berry Opticians to come up with a rebranding for their company.

Looking into the current branding they had I could see we needed to completely get away from what they currently had. We spoke about styles of designer glasses they supplied and the customer base they are selling to. It was decided we needed to go down the more classical route for the logo, staying away from the glasses/eye icon style. We agreed on a type style that suited what they are portraying and colours that went well with the design.

The client is very pleased with how the final logo has turned out.

After the logo had been completed we then turned to the stationery. The brief was to use the colours from the logo, the stationery was to have a more professional look and be easily recognisable to be from Martin Berry Opticians.

We wanted the designs to be fun and colourful to represent what the pre-school was all about. After we had agreed a colourful design for the school stationery I took the style through onto the brochure and the flyers. The final printed designs really stood out getting across the fun aspect of the pre-school.

I was contacted by the organisers of Stockton Heath Festival and asked to come up with a new ‘fresh’ design for the 2011 Festival Programme.

The only guidelines I had to stick to was to use the bold colours from the Festival Trust logo, so oranges, greens, purples, etc. I looked into past years programmes to see the styles…. then completely ignored them as they wanted something different from past years that would stand out to people passing by. Taking in everything the festival was doing, various events and stalls etc, I came up with a programme that was easy to read, an easy to handle size and most of all that stands out.

From the programme I then went on to produce a series of posters for different events happening within the festival and also the tickets for each event. All have gone down well and seem to have caught peoples eye, so fulfilling the brief.

Ok, so for my latest blog I thought I would do one none design related.

The Wolves…

As you may know from other blogs, I am a massive rugby league fan following the Mighty Warrington Wolves (The Wire)!! Well, the Wire have been running hot for the last few weeks, some massive scores, including a record defeat of Swinton 112-0!!! Lee Briers leading the way and breaking a few records himself in the process. Then last Friday came Leeds Rhinos away! Yikes I thought as many other Wire fans probably did too. This could bring us back down to Earth with a bump! Leeds not playing their best at the moment, but they are still a champion side. Would we be over confident? Would this be Leeds turning point of the season?…….. Well the answer came in front of a huge crowd…… What were we all worrying about! “WOW!!! How good are we”… was the cries you could hear from many a Wire fan! What a game! Wire coming away comfortable winners in the end and against a Leeds team that will never give in!

Many a Wire fan have ‘like myself’ waited a long, long time through some bad times and some worse times to see a team play with as much passion, enthusiasm and most of all enjoyment as the current Warrington Wolves squad is!!! It’s been a long time coming, but under the guidance of Tony Smith (The Messiah!!!), we ‘The Wire Fans’ can finally enjoy our Rugby League. It’s a great time to be a Wire!!!

The Sharks…

As well as being a supporter of Rugby League I also play a bit as well. Now in the twilight of my career, I have seen and played in some games that most people wouldn’t believe over the years!!! For the past… god knows how many seasons. I have played through the winter for Rylands Sharks ARLFC and throughout the summer for various teams including Lymm Rugby League and Crewe Wolves ARLFC. After a not so great winter season with Rylands, which saw us relegated out of the Premiership, I decided to take the summer off. Time to recover and then have one last push for Rylands next season.

Well as I said, it wasn’t the best for Rylands last season, but the second team did get promoted but all celebrations were under a cloud. Anyway, after a Fantastic game at the end of the season which saw a team of ex-players and old heads all turn up to help out a struggling first team, spirits were high!!! This is what amateur Rugby League is all about!! Friends getting together for 80 mins, working hard for each other, the fitter players helping out the not so fit by taking that extra drive, the bigger players helping the smaller ones by doing the hard work! We went on to lose the the game… the smiles were as big as ever… the BUZZ was back!

So through the off season changes have been made. Ex players have returned, current players (including myself) have decided to help out with the coaching team and we are planning for a great pre-season. Of course we want both teams to have great seasons! get the first team back to the prem and establish the seconds as a force in 4th Division… but most of all we want it all to be fun! A place for players to bring their families to watch the game and enjoy the atmosphere after. Training will be starting soon andI don’t think I have seen so many as excited for it to get underway as there are now. Its gonna be a good year and as it is for the Wire for the Rylands Squad of players will be playing, no matter what the result, with passion, enthusiasm and most of all enjoyment!!!

If anyone reading this would like to Help out Rylands ‘Local’ Amateur Rugby League club, please feel free to contact myself or:

Pete Leonard – Coach. Tel: 07817 277423 Email: pete7coel@hotmail.com

The Open Age teams are also looking for sponsors. Sponsors can be anything from a Specific Kit Number, or,

Your Name/Logo on the back of 60 t shirts for – £350

Your Name/Logo on the back of 17 training tops – £100

Your Name/Logo on 60 tracksuits – £1200

Your Name/Logo on front of playing kit – £1200

All sponsorship include a FREE advert in the match day programme

Or most importantly, please get down to watch the teams on a Saturday and show your support for local Amateur Rugby League that way!!!

I was contacted by a local Web and Media Solutions company to update the British Ice Hockey logo.

The brand as it stands is very well know, so the brief was to just make a few subtle amends and add the Union Jack in some way. After researching other Ice Hockey logos I found they all follow a similar theme – Bold Colour – Stand Out – Very in your face! as we needed to keep the logo ‘similar’ to the old one it was a case of finding the best way to present the Union Jack within the logo.

The final logo ticks all boxes and will be used in a variety of ways.

BodyActive are the UK’s leading site for sports supplements, bodybuilding and the fitness lifestyle. I was contacted to come up with a few adverts for Fighters Magazine, that would show what they are all about.

I had to look into what the target audience would be. Who would buy the magazine and what would the audience be interested in seeing. Then find a way of showing that BodyActive are not just a supplements supplier, but very active in the fitness and MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) scenes also.

Over a series of Adverts we have been able to do this.

The adverts will continue to change, each showing various popular products as well as showing people that BodyActive are much more than just a Fitness Supplement supplier. This at first was a challenging but informative look into the world of Fitness Supplements and Mixed Martial Arts. But with each set of adverts my knowledge of the fitness world gets more and more interesting.

The adverts are ongoing on a monthly basis, each changing but keeping the BodyActive Branding throughout.
